MedAesthetics

Marketing that pays for itself, measured by the clinic’s own books

Seven Perth cosmetic skin clinics. 1,389 new clients in 13 months at $251 each, with all marketing costing 4.2% of revenue. Every figure on this page comes from MedAesthetics’ own marketing efficiency report.

Overview

MedAesthetics is a Perth cosmetic skin clinic group with seven clinics: Applecross, Butler, Duncraig, Rockingham, Westfield Whitford City and two in Subiaco, including DermAesthetics.

Two of those clinics opened during the year: Whitford City in December 2025 and Butler in May 2026.

PWD has run their SEO and Google Ads since May 2024, and rebuilt their website, which launched in October 2026.

In October 2026 their finance team put together a 13-month marketing efficiency report from the clinics’ booking system, their accounts, Google Analytics and Meta. It is the source of every number here, and it is not kind to every channel, including one of ours.

Challenge

Measuring what a cosmetic clinic’s marketing returns is harder than it looks:

  • Most new clients never book online: about six in seven book by phone, message or at the front desk, where no ad or analytics tag can see them.
  • Online bookings are mostly loyal clients: 93% of online appointments are existing clients rebooking.
  • Seven clinics, two of them new: the Whitford City and Butler openings brought revenue and new clients that marketing alone did not create.
  • Many suppliers, one budget: SEO, paid search, social media, content, events and print all compete for the credit.
  • Strict advertising rules: national rules on advertising cosmetic procedures and prescription medicines limit what ads and pages can say, so the marketing has to win on being found and trusted, not on promises.

Where online bookings came from

4,476 online bookings with a deposit, September 2025 to September 2026, from Google Analytics. Each booking is counted once.

  1. Organic search2,79562%
  2. Direct59813%
  3. Own website (source lost)50011%
  4. Organic social3007%
  5. Meta Ads1433%
  6. Unattributed451%
  7. AI assistants441%
  8. Google Ads210.5%
  9. Email170.4%

Online bookings are mostly existing clients rebooking. Most new clients book by phone, so the paid channels’ effect on new clients sits largely outside this chart.

What we did

Kept seven clinics easy to find

SEO across the group since May 2024: pages for the treatments people search for, a page for each skin concern and each clinic, and a Google Business Profile for every location.

Ran Google Ads by treatment value

Search campaigns split into high, mid and low-value treatment tiers, each with its own budget, alongside retargeting for people who have already visited the site.

Rebuilt the website around treatments

The new site launched in October 2026 with 61 treatment pages, a treatment directory you can filter, and a site search built on the words clients actually use. 80 redirects send old addresses to their new pages, so visitors and rankings follow the move.

Put the prices where people look

The clinic told us their prices were impossible to find: 64 prices sat behind 21 tabs. They now sit beside each treatment’s name in groups you can scan, and Book Now buttons go straight to that treatment in the clinics’ booking system.

Where it stands today

From MedAesthetics’ own marketing efficiency report, September 2025 to September 2026: revenue and new clients from the booking system, marketing costs from the accounts, online bookings from Google Analytics. Marketing means all of it: SEO, paid ads, social media, content, events, print and software.

  • Marketing costs 4.2% of revenue, under the 5% target and an industry average of about 7%. Every $1 of marketing sits against $23.60 of revenue.
  • 1,389 new clients, about 107 a month, each one a first-ever visit to the group.
  • $251 to win a new client, against a target of $370. A new client spends about $355 on their first visit, $685 in their first 90 days and $1,110 in their first year, and is worth an estimated $2,300 over their lifetime.
  • 2,795 online bookings from organic search, 62% of the 4,476 made online, with no cost per click.
  • 823 appointments from the free Book button on the clinics’ Google Business Profiles over the year.
  • 44 online bookings from AI assistants, a small channel, but one to watch.

What has not happened yet

Google Ads is unproven. Google Analytics tracked 21 online bookings from the ads in 13 months. Most new clients book by phone, and calls from the ads are not tracked yet, so neither Google nor the booking system can see those bookings. Unproven is not the same as zero, but it is not good enough either.

Clicks got dearer. Cost per click on the main account rose from $3.56 in September 2025 to $8.16 in September 2026, so the same spend now buys far fewer visits.

Efficiency slipped from April. Average monthly marketing spend rose 36% from April to August 2026, while new clients rose only 3%. July was the exception, with 182 new clients.

Organic search mostly brings back people who already know the name. Most of those 2,795 bookings came from clients searching for MedAesthetics itself. Winning more first-time clients from treatment searches is the job ahead, and it is what the new site is built for.

And only 26% of new clients from May to September had a referral source recorded, so nobody can yet say for certain which channel brought each new client in.

We would rather publish that than a rounded-up version.

What’s next

  • Judge Google Ads on bookings, not clicks: call tracking on the ads and a monthly report of calls and bookings by campaign.
  • Carry ad tags into the booking system: so every online booking records the ad it came from.
  • Stop losing sources: fix the Google Analytics setup that restarts visits between the website and the booking pages, which currently hides the source of about 11% of online bookings.
  • Win treatment searches: grow the share of bookings from people who search for a treatment before they know the clinic.
  • On the clinic side: ask every new client how they heard of MedAesthetics. It was recorded for 44% in August, and the aim is over 90%.

Next steps

The marketing pays for itself several times over, and the clinic can show it from its own books. The next phase is making every channel, ours included, show exactly which new clients it brings in.

Want results like these? If you run a clinic or a business with several locations, we can show you what your marketing actually returns, channel by channel, and fix what cannot be measured yet. Talk to PWD.
