APY Art Centre Collective

Bringing indigenous culture online

PWD complete and launches APY Art Centre’s website with enhanced storytelling and visual impact.

The Brief

The APY Art Centre Collective is a group of ten Indigenous-owned and governed art centres located on the APY Lands. Together, they work to drive economic empowerment, preserve cultural traditions, and create nationally significant contemporary art.

When their original developer exited mid-project, APY Art Centre Collective was left with an incomplete website and no clear path forward. PWD was engaged to step in, complete the build, and launch the site. We also resolved long-standing domain issues and delivered a range of enhancements to support storytelling and ongoing engagement.

The Challenge

APY Art Centre Collective approached PWD with an 85% complete website that had stalled due to their developer leaving the industry. The build was functional but unfinished, with several core challenges still outstanding:

  • The site was near completion but lacked key structural elements and quality assurance to go live.
  • Several new content sections and design updates needed to be scoped, built, and integrated.
  • The client had lost access to their domain, with previous attempts at recovery proving unsuccessful.
  • Navigation and image handling across the site were inconsistent and affected the user experience.

Key Actions

Website completion and launch

We audited the in-progress build, implemented final design and development updates, and completed a thorough pre-launch QA process.

Domain recovery

PWD successfully regained control of the APY Art Centre Collective domain, resolving ongoing access issues and enabling a smooth transition to launch.

Post-launch enhancements

We delivered multiple functional and content improvements including:

  • A video banner to elevate the homepage experience
  • A custom “Our People” section to showcase team bios and images
  • A dedicated “Support Partners” section to highlight key collaborators
  • A visual infographic integration on the Social Impact page to bring data to life
  • Restoration of broken navigation and image formatting for improved consistency

The Solution

PWD took ownership of the project, providing both technical expertise and strategic direction to bring the site live with polish and purpose.

Client Impact

The APY Art Centre Collective website is now live and fully operational, following a smooth handover and staged rollout of additional features.

  • The site now accurately reflects the professionalism and impact of the Collective.
  • Visitors benefit from a clear, accessible structure and stronger storytelling elements.
  • The client re-engaged PWD for multiple follow-on enhancements, demonstrating trust and satisfaction with the results.
  • Domain issues were resolved permanently, eliminating a key operational risk.
